What to do in Marbella: the capital of luxury
The most luxurious city on the Costa del Sol not only has a lot to offer, but is also a favorite of the Spanish jet set. There is no doubt that many tourists return to Marbella on a regular basis, whether it is for its beautiful old town, delicious tapas, luxury shopping or nightlife.
Marbella is a great place to live in incredible luxury, if that is what you are looking for, from the gigantic villas of Nueva Andalucia to the beautiful apartments near the harbour of Puerto Banus; it is 100% the place to be if you want to go all the way and start a life of fun and luxury. Marbella is our first choice because of the quality and variety of beaches in the area. However, today’s article is not about why you should choose Marbella as a place to live, but about the places you should visit during your stay in this luxurious city.
The real heart of Marbella lies in the old town, which resembles the streets of a village more than those of a city. Marbella has managed to preserve in its historic center the appearance of an old fishing village with a valuable Moorish heritage.
The best way to get to know the center of Marbella is to explore it on foot and get lost in the labyrinth of its streets with white facades and pots of geraniums hanging from them.
In the old town you will find numerous taverns, restaurants and stores. There is a good atmosphere in all the streets and squares. You will find the best tapas bars and, in good weather, it is a pleasure to sit on the terraces and enjoy the delicious local dishes.
Marbella’s promenade is designed in the purest style of the region, with marble and works of art by Salvador Dalí. It is 6 km long and almost seems like walking through an urban museum. The promenade is always very lively and has many stores and terraces where you can eat or have a drink. You can enjoy the palm-lined coastline and the sunsets on Marbella’s promenade are truly unique.
Puerto Banús is one of the must-see attractions of your visit to Marbella. The port is known as the most sumptuous and glamorous in all of Spain. It is a place where VIP residents, expensive yachts, cars, stores and restaurants predominate. Many famous fashion brands have their stores here, such as Versace, Dior, Loewe or Ralph Lauren. The nightlife is at its best in the VIP clubs such as Pangea or Seven. It is a good place to watch the sunset and soak up this luxurious area of Marbella.
If you’re visiting Marbella, you could say you’re a lover of sea, sun and sand, so a visit to some of the best beaches in this luxury resort is a must. Real de Zaragoza Beach, a true paradise on the shores of the Mediterranean. Nagüeles Beach, on Marbella’s Golden Mile, with its fine golden sand. Cabopino Beach, one of the best natural beaches on the Costa del Sol.
